The third of four half-term workshops in which musicians of African heritage share some of their music and techniques, and encourage the students to improvise and/or create their own pieces in response.
Revered oud maestro Mohammed Maalow Nuur from Somalia leads this workshop on this extraordinary instrument from the European/North African/Central Asian lute family, with eleven strings. Tuned to a pentatonic scale, this in no way restrict its expressiveness!
Admission free, open to musicians aged 12-21, of any cultural background, and playing any instrument, whether Western or global.
