UNFORGOTTEN VOYAGES
Our highlight of the summer was a week-long festival of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks in 1948, bringing workers from the Caribbean to help rebuild Britain after the war.
Under the banner Unforgotten Voyages, the programme also explored the backstory of the Windrush Generation, the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the impact of the African diaspora today.
The programme (below) featured every aspect of the Grand Union’s ongoing work with young people, communities, participants and audiences across a wide range of Hackney venues.
