  • British Library 96 Euston Road London, England, NW1 2DB United Kingdom (map)

Grand Union Orchestra celebrates the 50th anniversary of the end of the war that established Bangladesh as a separate nation on 16 December 1971.

This is the culmination of programme which began with began with producing a film Honouring Mujib to commemorate the anniversary of the original Declaration back in March, and the topic has informed much of our work with young musicians during the last year.

This performance features some of the songs from the film, sung by Lucy Rahman, whose father Sheikh Luthfur Rahman was an acclaimed singer/songwriter and well-known activist in the cause of independence. She is supported by the Grand Union's tabla virtuoso Yousuf Ali Khan, and members of the Grand Union Orchestra.
