The first of four half-term workshops in which musicians of African heritage share some of their music and techniques, and encourage the students to improvise and/or create their own pieces in response.
Led by Ghanaian master-drummer Abass Dodoo, who will also provide djembes, this practical workshop introduces young musicians to the intricate, pulsating drum rhythms of West Africa, and the chants and work-songs that go with them.
Admission free, open to musicians aged 12-21, of any cultural background, and playing any instrument, whether Western or global.
